Trading Journal Examples: review the decision before you judge the result

A trading journal example should not make a trade look perfect after the fact. It should show what was known before entry, where the idea was invalid, how risk was planned, and what one rule should improve next time.

Education onlyNo signalsNo profit promisesProcess review

Example 1: good loss review

Process-focused

Context

The market was in a pullback toward a prior structure area. The idea required a reclaim and a clear invalidation level before entry.

Risk and invalidation

Risk was fixed before entry. The trade was wrong if price closed back below the reclaim area. The stop was not widened after entry.

Review note

The trade lost, but the process was followed. The next rule is to keep screenshots of the trigger and invalidation before reviewing the outcome.

Example 2: bad win review

Outcome trap

Context missing

The journal says “worked because it went up,” but does not record market structure, session condition, invalidation or risk before entry.

Risk changed emotionally

Size was increased because the setup “looked obvious.” The stop was moved after price moved against the idea. A winning result does not make that process strong.

Better next rule

Before the next trade, write the invalidation and risk first. If the setup cannot be explained in one sentence, skip it or reduce size.

How this connects to Trading Master

Trading Master teaches traders to connect chart context with risk management, psychology and review. These examples are a small practical bridge from one trade review to the broader e-book framework.
